I was curious to find out what kind of activities are provided outside of school for children to participate in who have physical disabilities. By researching, I found out that there are a lot of camps for children to not only do physical activities, but to learn about being healthy. I liked this YouTube video I found about a camp for children with physical disabilities.
Camp for children with physical disabilities
I think it is important for the parents to research different activities for their children. If the school does not provide any extra curricular activities for their children, these camps are a great idea.
Have you found any local camps/activities that you might refer families to when you have your own classroom>?
ReplyDeleteI know there are some summer camps that are run through the rec center. I'd love to see some other ones if you are able to find them!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend whose daughter has autism and she takes her to a local stable for some kind of horse-riding therapy. They live in Kentucky, so it wouldn't be local, but I wonder if there is anything like that in our area?
ReplyDeleteI have volunteered at Visionaries and Voices which is a place for people of all ages with disabilities to go and create art. It is such a great environment and everyone is very friendly. I think this would be a great place to refer families to. There are a lot of volunteers and they are such a great help in creating art shows and selling art to raise money!
